CORNING — Mother Nature was denied her second win of the season on Saturday night as drivers, fans and ACS officials braved the cold April weather to drop the green flag on the 2015 racing season at Adams County Speedway.

The Adams County Speedway Mud Hogs put in a full day’s work in order to make the race track and pits accessible for the season opener. However, some drivers opted to use the fairgrounds as a makeshift pit row.

Most makes the most of his opportunity

He was racing in a car with a for sale sign and someone else’s name on it, but that didn’t prevent Red Oak’s Josh Most from distancing himself from the pack en route to collecting the victory in the season opener for The Stalker Chevrolet B-Mods.

The race started out with a four-car accident on lap one. Most got a good restart and was able to pass Omaha native Ryan Jenkins for the lead.

Most would not look back, kicking off his 2015 season with a victory.

Jenkins battled a challenging Shawn Harker for second place, before succumbing to Harker in the race’s waning laps, settling for a third place finish. Rounding out the top five were Bryce Allen and Bret Sheppard.

Auten wins Hobby Stock

It only took 2012 Chat Mobility Hobby Stock Champion Jeremy Auten one week to match his 2014 win total.

Auten was able to take advantage of his front row starting position, passing pole sitter Jason Fusselman early in the race before having to hold off a challenging Corey Madden on his way to taking the first checkered flag of the 2015 season for the Hobby Stocks.

Matt McAtee was able to pass Fusselman in the closing laps to secure a third-place finish. Kevin Bruck rounded out the top five with a fifth place finish. Two-time defending track champion Jeremy Purdy finished ninth.

Zeitner tames Late Model field

Corey Zeitner checked out from the field on his way to collecting the victory in The Coors Light Silver Bullet Late Models A-Feature.

Zeitner took the lead on the initial start and never looked back. J.C Wyman surged his way up to a second-place finish. Sterling Perkins took home a third place, followed by Mike Leal and Colten Leal. Paul Glendenning ran in the top three for the majority of the race, but engine trouble relegated him to a sixth-place finish.

Zadina begins championship chase with win

Joe Zadina was only a matter of laps away from collecting the 2014 Northland Oil Pro Stock Track Championship

He began his path for redemption on Saturday Night with a win on opening night.

Jerry Pritchett secured a second place finish in his return to the track. Brad Derry charged his way up to a third-place finish. Avoca’s Mike Hansen finished in fourth. Defending track Champion Greg Miller held off Kevin Sharp for a fifth-place finish.

Candy Man tastes victory

The Candy Man Jeff Wiggins sprinkled the field on Saturday, beginning the 2015 season the same way he ended the 2014 season — with a win.

Wiggins became the fifth driver of the night to win his feature after starting in the front two rows. Wiggins held off pole sitter Clint Homan, who would finish second.

Brian Foote fiercefully battled Todd Van Eaton for third place throughout the majority of the race, before Foote was able to overpower Van Eaton. Defending track champion and 10-time 2014 Feature Winner Jesse Dennis raced his way up to a fifth-place finish despite starting toward the back of the pack.
