Youth football

Registration ends May 1 for Creston teams in the Pride of Iowa Youth Football League.

The league is open to players in grades 4-6 next fall. The number of local teams will be determined by registrations turned in this spring.

Registration fee is $75 per player sent to John Shiltz at 315 South Walnut St., Creston, Iowa 50801. Checks are payable to Creston Youth Football.

Games will be played on Saturdays in the fall starting at 10:30 a.m. with the schedule of games ending at about 8 p.m.

Practices will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, subject to change by coaches.

Mat rankings

The wrestling-related website iawrestle.com has ranked returning high school wrestlers “pound for pound” in each grade for the 2015-16 season.

Chase Shiltz of Creston/O-M, Class 2A 160-pound champion has a sophomore this year, is listed as the top junior in the state for next season.

Bowling meeting

The Creston USBC Bowling Association’s annual meeting will be held Friday at Pine Valley Golf and Bowl.

A social gathering will begin at 6 p.m., with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m.
