Rain postpones season opener

CORNING — Rain and the threat of more pushed the start of the 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season at Adams County Speedway to Saturday.

Lots of excitement and anticipation built up as the days closed in on the KCSI 95.3 season opener this past Saturday, but fans and crews alike watched as the weather forecasters talked of rain and clouds.

The crew members from ACS stood ready at the speedway watching the skies and determining if the night could be run. Unfortunately, the rain clouds had other ideas and the races had to be called off shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday.

That gave the race teams an extra week to fine tune their machines before they take to the race track.

Crews working hard

Lots of race teams have been putting in long hours while trying to set the cars up for a great season at ACS.

Younger generations are helping out in the shops and at the tracks. Some of the younger crew members have been pushed to their max, while others are trying to keep going. The little race fans have seen their share of over-worked and under-paid early on in 2015.

Meanwhile at the Clay Mercer shop, they are sure to double check lug nuts and tire pressures (below).

Over at the shop of Jerod Weston, they have all been working so hard that they try to sleep in the garage (above).
