Arthur “Art” H. Gladfelder, 77, of Shannon City died April 18, 2015, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Celebration of life graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Oakland Cemetery south of Shannon City. Open visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton. Visitation with family will begin 10 a.m. Wednesday before processing to the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. graveside service. Memorials may be given to the Art Gladfelder Memorial. Arthur Hensley Gladfelder, son of Lucy Velira (Perkins) and Arthur Kile Gladfelder, was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Davenport.

Art graduated from Lineville High School.

On Sept. 13, 1958, Art married Marilyn Kay Simpson in Altoona. They lived in Des Moines and later Ankeny, while Art worked for the Library Binding Service for more than 30 years. In 1990, they moved to a farm south of Shannon City, where they farmed until 2013. Art also drove a school bus for the East Union School District for more than 20 years.

Art was a former member of Ankeny Golf and Country Club.

Art is survived by his wife Marilyn Gladfelder of Shannon City; daughter Lynn (husband Gary) McGregor of Brunswick, Ohio; son Rick (wife Donna) Gladfelder of Ankeny; grandchildren, Morgan McGregor of Brunswick, Ohio, Aaron (wife Kim) Gladfelder of Shannon City and Kyle Gladfelder of Johnston; great-granddaughters, Autumn and Kaylee Gladfelder; and sister Jessie Mae (husband Dick) Smith of Winterset.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy, Charles Aaron Gladfelder; and sister Margie Louisa Clement.
