Area standout 800-meter runners Jay Wolfe and Bryce Briley and Mount Ayr’s Kyle Dolecheck will meet for a fourth time this season on the blue oval at Drake Stadium.
All three were among the 16 qualifiers for the boys 800 meters in the high school division at the Drake Relays this weekend. Race time is 1:55 p.m. Friday.
Wolfe, second in last year’s Drake Relays race and Class 3A state champion, qualified with the best time of 1:54.75 in winning the Panther Relays Thursday. Dolecheck was second in that race with a qualifying time of 1:57.04 and Briley was a close third in 1:57.23.
Cutoff time for the 800 meters this year was 1:58.45. The Drake Relays record is 1:54.62 set last year by Carter Lilly of Sioux City East, in beating Wolfe, who also beat the previous record.
