Mamie Ramsbottom Frisco, Texas

Mamie L. Ramsbottom, 92, of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Creston, died April 11, 2015, at Prairie Estates Nursing Home in Frisco, Texas.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Creston. The Rev. Jim Woodworth will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Mamie Lucile Ramsbottom, daughter of Mabel Margaret (Garrison) and Amos “Roy” Leroy Parker, was born July 6, 1922, in Creston.

Mamie attended school in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in May 1941.

On May 20, 1941, Mamie married Frank Lavern Ramsbottom in Grant City, Mo.

Mamie and Frank lived in Lorain, Ohio, where Mamie operated a diner; and later in St. Louis, Mo., she owned a delicatessen. After she sold the delicatessen, she helped Frank with his TV sales and service business.

In 1955, they moved to Kirksville where Mamie owned and operated Mamie’s Big Value HyKlas Grocery Store from 1965-1970, and in 1970 Mamie’s Fashions And Style Shop. She owned Parker Publications, which was a part of Ramsbottom Printing, and published The Kirksville Area Shopper, the first free advertising paper in Kirksville, Mo. Her last business was the Craft Center in Harlingen, Texas, and Mamie retired in 1990.

Mamie was a member of the 99 Club founded by Amelia Earhart. Mamie was the first woman assistant state director of the Texas Good Sam Club.

Frank died in 1998. She then left Texas to care for her youngest daughter Barbara in her fight with cancer. Barbara died July 5, 1999. On June 2, 2001, her eldest daughter Jean died of cancer.

Shortly after, Mamie moved up to Clear Lake, Texas, where she became an active member in TOPS.

In 2005, Mamie was hospitalized and had major surgery.

In 2006, she moved in with her granddaughter Gloria and son-in-law Joe Pechacek to Little Elm, Texas. She joined the Senior Center in Frisco, Texas. She became an active member in TOPS.

Mamie joined the First Baptist Church Frisco (Texas) on Jan. 3, 2010.

Mamie is survived by her grandchildren, John (Tammy) Conklin of Carbondale, Kan., Laura (Lowell) Lane of Carthage, Mo., Gloria (Joe) Pechacek of Little Elm, Texas, and Brent Hall (fiancé Jennifer) of Topeka, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Shawn (Lindsay) Conklin of Osage City, Kan., Brett (Sarah) Conklin of Carbondale, Kan., Matthew, Michael, Emily and Amy Lane of Carthage, Mo., Moira and Davin Pechacek of Little Elm, Texas, and Shyanne Hall of Topeka, Kan.; great-great-grandchildren, Brayden and Hunter Conklin of Carbondale, Kan.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addtion to her husband and two daughters, Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; brother Amos Parker Jr.; and sister Theodora “Tootie” Johanna Rhoads.
