Police

Jon Jefferson Perry, 50, 705 S. Maple St., was charged with operating while intoxicated and unlawful possession of prescription drugs 4:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West Page Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Perry was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and noticed Perry’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. Perry refused standard field sobriety testing, preliminary breath testing and Data Master testing. Also during the stop, Perry was found to be in the unlawful possession of prescription pills cyclobenzoprine.

Perry was released on $1,000 bond.

An employee of The Book Store, 210 N. Maple St., reported a shopping cart was taken from the business’ upstairs hall between midnight and 11:30 p.m. Sunday. It was an old Fareway cart.

Loss estimate is $100.
