UI Writers Workshop to read at Creston Arts open mic night

Several graduate students from the University of Iowa’s (UI) Writers Workshop will be reading their poetry and fictional works Friday during open mic night at Adams Street Espresso. Open mic night is held 8 to 9:30 p.m.

The University of Iowa’s Writers Workshop is nationally recognized as one of the best in the United States. Most of these students have published works.

Open mic night is open to anyone who wants to perform; sing, play an instrument, read poetry, or just come watch the show.

UI Writers Workshop will also host a workshop for students at East Union School during the afternoon Friday. Melisa Crook is the language arts teacher at East Union.

Southern Iowa Resource Conservation and Development has partnered with the University of Iowa to bring cultural events to its seven-county region. This happens to be the first event of the partnership. This particular event is part of UI’s Art Share program in collaboration with Creston Arts.
