Lois E. Waltersdorf, 89, of Creston died Jan. 20, 2015, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Creston. The Rev. David Tebbenkamp and the Rev. Robert Sauser will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Afton. Open visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. service time Friday at the church. Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Greater Regional Hospice Home (Hospice of Central Iowa) or the First Baptist Church. Lois E. Waltersdorf, daughter of Jessie (Fluckey) and Benjamin W. Werner, was born April 18, 1925, in Afton.
Lois graduated from Afton High School. She worked as a teacher for a short time.
On June 15, 1947, Lois married Dale K. Waltersdorf in Creston. They settled on a farm in Union County, where she worked as a homemaker and farmwife.
Lois was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Creston where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Lois is survived by her children, Linda (husband Dale) Silver of Alleman, Larry (wife Sharon) Waltersdorf of Creston, Terry (wife Colleen) Waltersdorf of Ankeny and John (wife Blythe) Waltersdorf of Creston; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale in 1996; and sisters, Dorothy and Lela Werner in infancy.
