Dorothy Repplinger Creston

Dorothy Repplinger, 88, of Creston, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m.Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Powers Funeral Home, jct. hwy 34 and 25 in Creston.

Pastor Dwayne Henrichs will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be from 1-5 p.m Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Powers Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 3-5:00 p.m.

Dorothy Irene Repplinger was born May 30, 1926, in Diagonal, Ia. to Nora (Hersom) and Robert Lee Beaman. Dorothy graduated from Diagonal High School in 1944.

On December 5, 1946 Dorothy was united in marriage to Joe Leo Repplinger in Troy, Kan. They settled in the Afton area, where she worked for the Afton Coop. Dorothy and Joe later owned and operated a bar in Afton for a short time before moving to Des Moines in 1968. While in Des Moines, Dorothy worked for EMCO for 13 years.

In 1981 Dorothy returned to farm south of Arispe along highway 169 for ten years before moving to Creston in 1991.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Pete (wife Marge) Repplinger of Creston and Gary (wife Jo) Repplinger of Des Moines; three daughters, Shirley (husband Lowell) Hagle of Creston, Karen (husband Ted) Jones of Shannon City and Virginia (husband Dick) Bishop of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren, Brenda (husband Pat) Osburne of Castlerock, Colo., Steven Repplinger of Michellville, Brooke (husband Mike) McKinney of Elkhart, Jeff Hagle of Kansas City, Mo., Jared Hagle, Jason (wife Lisa) Hagle all of Creston, Monica Wimber, Chris Repplinger , Scott Kilmer, all of Des Moines, Tami (husband Greg) Carlson of Corning, Tracie (husband Ed) Cook of Shannon City, Kathy Cooper, Melissa Bishop of Des Moines and Jody (husband Patrick) White of West Des Moines; 37 great-grandchildren, Jordon and Dakota Osborn, Luke and Levi McKinney, Christal, Joe, Ciara, Cody, Kayla, Hannah, Chloe, Gracie and Sophie Hagle, Serina, Christopher Jr., Aleena, Emma Lu and Justin Repplinger, Alysia Wimber, Taylor, Haley and Payton Bramman, Logan and Ryan Carlson, Emma and Zoie Cook, Palmer Hayes, Christian White, Ava and Alex White, Michael, Michelle, Kassadie and Kourtnie Cooper, Patrick, Emily and Amber Kilmer and three great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Craig, Rylie and Jemma Hysel and a sister-in-law Mildred Sullivan of Afton.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe in 2005, a granddaughter Tiffani Braman, a grandson Tony Repplinger, two brothers, Wayne and Daryl Beaman and three sisters Valere Hucklebee, Carla Bell Calvin and Florence Carson.
