Lois Hagle, 98, of Corning died Sept. 15, 2014, at Corning Nursing and Rehab Center.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Carl Cemetery. No visitation and no public viewings are planned. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Corning Nursing and Rehab Center and or Care Initiatives Hospice. Lois (Routh) Hagle, daughter of Anna (Crocker) and Guy Routh, was born April 29, 1916, in Salem, Mo.

Lois was baptized in the Latter Day Saints Church in Creston, and later changed her membership to the United Disciples of Christ in Prescott.

Lois graduated from Cromwell High School in 1933.

On Jan. 2, 1935, Lois married Mervin “Hap” Hagle in Creston.

Lois was raised and lived on a farm her entire life, until she moved to Prescott in 1997. She opened a cafe in Prescott for two years and the cafe at Adams County Auction for 23 years.

Lois served on the Kline Museum Board and PTA of Prescott School. She also served on the Prescott Septemberfest committee and as a director on the Housing for the Elderly Board. She was an Elder at the Prescott Church. She was Co-Grand Marshall of the Septemberfest Parade in 1995. She was installed as a member of the State of Iowa Hall of Fame for volunteers of Adams County in the 1991 by Gov. Terry Branstad. She belonged to the Friday Bridge Club, Bag Ladies group and Friday morning coffee club.

Lois is survived by her son-in-law Larry Skelton of Fontanelle (special friend Lois Nolan) of Corning; grandchildren, Gary (Carol) Paulus of Pleasant Hill, Teresa Paulus of Tulsa, Okla., Jeanne (Chris) Bernacki of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jeff Skelton of Corning; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Beverly Sheriff and Sherry Skelton; grandson James Wesley Skelton; son-in-law Leo Sheriff; two sisters and one brother.
