Lowell Aupperle, 90, of Greenfield died Aug. 19, 2014, at Greenfield Manor in Greenfield.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Steen Funeral Home, 101 S.E. Fourth St., Greenfield. The Rev. Eric Schubert will officiate. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery. Flag folding ceremonies at the cemetery will be conducted by Fontanelle American Legion Carlson Post No. 247.  Open visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Greenfield. Lowell Dean Aupperle, son of Alta (Hutchins) and Roy Aupperle, was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Guthrie County.

Lowell attended country schools primary through eighth grade. He graduated from Adair High School in 1942.

Lowell joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Area during WWII.

On July 1, 1954, Lowell married Inez Main in Adair.

Lowell farmed until moving to Greenfield in 1980. He then worked for SCS and Greenfield Schools as a janitor.

Lowell was a charter member of the Adair V.F.W., 50-year member of Fontanelle American Legion Carlson Post No. 247 and member of Greenfield United Methodist Church.

Lowell is survived by his wife Inez Aupperle of Greenfield; brother Neil (Jannes) Aupperle of Anita; sisters, Delores (Charles) Templeman of Atlantic and Marlene (Jack) Shannon of Madison, Ohio; brother-in-law Robert Hagen of Anita; godsons, Benjamin and Austin Olson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Aupperle; sisters, Audrey Wahlert, Wanda Brown and Joyce Hagen; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
