Twenty-eight tumblers from The Spotlight State Fair Tumbling Team competed at the Iowa State Fair Tumbling Meet Aug. 16 at the Youth Inn on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. More 400 tumblers representing nearly 20 gyms and studios participated in this event.
Contestants were divided among gender, age, and skill level. Each challenger demonstrates a 10-stunt compulsory, choreographed specifically for his or her gender, age and skill. At the conclusion of each compulsory, the tumbler receives a score based on a 10-point scale. More advanced tumblers are invited to participate in the optional round, which allows the tumbler to perform 10 tricks of choice.
Many Spotlight tumblers placed in the top 10, helping the team earn the fourth-place trophy.
