Chad Sterling Cozad, 24, 511 N. Elm St. Apt. 2, was charged with operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and driving while suspended 7:25 p.m. Monday.
According to a Creston Police report, Cozad was stopped for driving while suspended. After he was stopped, officers ran his driver’s license information to make sure he was, in fact, suspended. The check of his driver’s license information confirmed he was suspended for non-payment of an Iowa fine. During the stop, a marijuana joint fell out of Cozad’s pants. Cozad admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that day. He showed signs of impairment and consented to a field sobriety test. Cozad showed signs of impairment during the testing and consented to a preliminary breath test, with a result of .000, ruling out alcohol. Cozad refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing.
Cozad was released on $2,000 bond.

Brandon Scott Lawrence, 21, 510 S. Walnut St., was charged on a Union County warrant for probation violation 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at Union County Law Enforcement Center.
Lawrence was being held on $2,000 bond.

Nicholas Avery, 22, 114 Manor Drive, was charged with possession of marijuana 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West Townline Street and North Sumner Avenue.
According to a Creston Police report, Avery was stopped for traffic violations while riding a bicycle. During the stop, it was discovered Avery had marijuana on his person.
Avery was released on $1,000 bond.
