Bob Kesterson

Robert (Bob) Allen Kesterson, 73, of Birmingham, Al passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was born in Tabor, IA, on May 6, 1941, to the late Arlo and Betty Kesterson. Bob graduated from Prescott High School and joined the Air Force in 1959 with service primarily in Blytheville, AR. Bob traveled extensively during his long career in the telecommunications industry making many friends throughout the states as he built new telephone offices. During retirement years, he spent much of his time in Atlanta and Birmingham where he enjoyed creative woodworking, gardening, and bird watching.

Bob is survived by two children; Bobby Kesterson and his wife Judy of Birmingham, Marty Kesterson and his wife Paige of Alpharetta, GA, and by the mother of his children, Mary Margaret Kesterson of North Little Rock, AR. He is also survived by his brothers; Jim Kesterson of Hemet, CA and Dan Kesterson and his wife Mary of Oskaloosa, IA; his sisters, Sharon Royster and her husband Paul of Creston, IA, and Robin Kesterson of Creston, IA; and sister-in-law Martha Rose Hardesty of North Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by brother Gerald Kesterson of Portland, OR. Bob had four grandchildren: Jason, Taylor and Lani Kesterson of Birmingham, and Camilla Kesterson of Alpharetta, GA. He also had many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.

Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity or Birmingham Veterans Administration Hospital.
