Norman Dallas Olson, 36, 1119 S. Lincoln St., was charged on two Union County warrants for obstruction of emergency communication and domestic abuse assault by strangulation 7:31 a.m. Wednesday at Union County Law Enforcement Center.

According to a Creston Police report, on July 17, officers were dispatched to Union County Law Enforcement Center to speak with a female about an assault that had happened in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, officers met with the female. She told officers she and Olson had been arguing throughout the day. Oldson did not live with her, but they have a two and a-half year-old child together who lives with her. The female said around 1 a.m. on July 17, she was awakened by Olson, who was knocking on the door and windows of her house. She went and let Olson inside the house, and they continued to argue. The female told Olson to leave. He refused and continued arguing. The female said she was going to call the police to have him removed from the house, and Olson then took the female’s phone from her, preventing her from calling the police. The female attempted to get her phone back, and Olson got physical by holding her down by her throat and choking her. He also banged her head against the floor several times. The female was able to fight back to get the phone away from Olson. Olson then left the residence. While at the law enforcement center, the female showed officers several bruises on her arms. She had scrape marks and two visible marks on her neck where Olson choked her. Photos were taken of the female and she filled out a written statement of the events. The female was also given a form for the domestic abuse hotline.

Olson was released on $5,000 bond.
