Michael Lee Schwieters, 24, of Des Moines was charged with public intoxication 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Spruce Street.
According to a Creston Police report, Schwieters was reported to be at 307 N. Spruce St. banging on the back door. When officers arrived, Schwieters left the scene and hid behind a garage in the 300 block of North Sycamore Street. When officers approached Schwieters, he smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. Schwieters was transported to Union County Law Enforcement Center and consented to a Data Master test with a result of .206 blood alcohol content.
Schwieters was released on $300 bond.

Robert Owen Hiatt III, 37, 1003 S. Sumner Ave., was charged on three Union County warrants for violation of a protective order, operating while intoxicated, harassment and false imprisonment.
According to a Creston Police report, a protective order was issued against Hiatt Aug. 2, 2013, to restrain him from having contact with Amy Sue Thompson. Hiatt went to Thompson’s residence, 800 N. Spruce St., 8:41 p.m. Aug. 3 rang the doorbell and spoke with Thompson after she came to the door. Thompson advised Hiatt that he wasn’t supposed to be there, so he left the residence driving a white Dodge pickup.
Hiatt was being held on $1,000 bond.
